Emanuela Galli

Emanuela Galli was born in Milan and studied singing at the Conservatory of Music in Mantova.

Notwithstanding the traditional nature of her studies, a love of Lieder, and her interest in every possible route the human voice could take her, meant a somewhat sudden detour in order to pay special attention to the baroque repertoire, with a passionately involving herself in the interpretation of countless manuscripts.

In following this route she has had the pleasure of working with several directors, among whom: O. Dantone, A. Florio, F.Bonizzoni, G. Leonhardt, M. Mencoboni, E.Gatti, J. Tubery, D. Fasolis, G. Garrido, C. Cavina.

She has collaborated with various emsembles including: Accademia Bizantina, la Cappella della Pietà dei Turchini, Ensemble Elyma, La Risonanza, La Venexiana, Ensemble La Fenice, Piccolo Concerto Wien, I Sonatori della Gioiosa Marca.

She has therefore been a guest at some of the most important festivals and theatres in Italy and throughout Europe: Teatro San Carlo in Naples, Teatro Massimo in Palermo, Teatro La Fenice in Venice, Santa Cecilia in Rome, Settembre Musica in Turin, and furthermore in Parma, Bologna, Ferrara, Cremona, Innsbruck Festival, Teatro de la Zarzuela in Madrid, Barcelona, Brugges Festival, Cité de la Musique in Paris, Beaune Festival, Utrecht Festival.

She has performed: Monteverdi‘s Drusilla in Incoronazione di Poppea; Alcina in Caccini’s Rapimento di Ruggero dall'Isola di Alcina; Cupido and Maria Madre in Provenzale’s La Colomba Ferita; Belluccia in Vinci’s Li Zite'n Galera directed by Antonio Florio; Didone in Cavalli’s Didone at the Concertgebow of Amsterdam; Boccherini Stabat Mater recorded for ORF, accompanied by the Piccolo Concerto Wien; Mergellina in Jommelli’s L'Uccellatrice; Cavalli’s Ipermestra in Utrecht Festival directed by Mike Fentross; Susanna in Scarlatti’s La Susanna with Enrico Gatti;

Recently she appeared in Vivaldi’s L’Ercole sul Termodonte in Teatro La Fenice in Venice; La Musica and Euridice in Monteverdi’s Orfeo in a european tour with La Veneziana, recorded by lossa and sang the title role in Cavalli world première La Rosinda in Potsdam Festival conducted by Mike Fentross.

She has recorded a large number of records with labels like: Opus 111, Glossa, Amadeus, Agorà, Stradivarius, E Lucevan Le Stelle.

She has collaborated with RA1 (Italy) ORF (Austria) and with RTSI (Radio Televisione della Svizzera Italiana).

Between her future engagements we cite: Poppea in Monteverdi’s L’Incoronazione di Poppea in a European tour followed by a recording for Glossa; title role in Handel’s Theodora with Alan Curtis in Cuenca; the revival of Vivaldi’s Ercole sul Termodonte on tour with Fabio Biondi; etc.
