Iglesia Románica de Arcas

The Church of the Nativity dates from the 13th century and is considered to be one of the most southernmost examples of the Romanesque style. The nave is of a rectangular design, covered by a groin vault with a wooden framed choir and railing at one end. A triumphal arch made of stone gives way to a semicircular apse. It also has a side chapel with a barrel arch which was added in 1623. The main door is arched, with five pointed archivolts above columns supported on a base of square pedestals; the entire doorway stands out from the façade of the building. Two railed renaissance enclaves can be found on either side of door upon entering the nave. The church has a bell-gable on a pointed pediment, which serves as a passageway or atrium.
