CONDUCTOR
Juan Carlos Asensio Palacios began his musical studies in the Escolanía de Santa Cruz del Valle de los Caídos which he would later continue in the Real Conservatorio Superior de Música (Musicology, Transverse Flute, Directing choirs...). As a collaborator in musical projects pertaining to the Caja Madrid Foundation and RISM he has published different articles in specialized magazines together with transcriptions of the Códice de Madrid and the Códice de Las Huelgas. In 2003 he published a monograph for the Alianza Editorial regarding Gregorian Chant. He is a collaborator of the Atêlier de Paléographie Musicale of the Solesmes Abbey and Professor of Gregorian Chant and Musical Paleography in the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Salamanca and teacher of the History of Medieval Music and Notation in the Escola Superior de Música of Catalonia. Since its foundation in the year 2002 he has been president of AHisECGre (Hispanic Association for the Study of Gregorian Chant), Member of the Consiglio Direttivo of the AISCGre (Associazione Internazionale Studi di Canto Gregoriano) and editor of the magazine Estudios Gregorianos. He has been director of Schola Antiqua since 1996.
